The MIEP Bioinformatics component focuses on providing informatics support for the whole project. In addition to lab management systems and computational infrastructure including data warehousing, high performance computing (HPC), and web portal, the MIEP bioinformatics team also provides the algorithms and tools support for analysis and visualization of proteomics, transcriptomics, genomics and flow cytometry data.

MIEP Bioinformatics
The Nutritional Immunology and Molecular Medicine Laboratory (NIMML) is a high-throughput lab and large amount of biological and in silico experimental data are generated daily. Laboratory management systems including systems for inventories, animal colonies, and experiments, play an important role in project management. The data warehousing provides storage and digital library utilities for both the immunology and modeling cores of MIEP. The HPC infrastructure provides platforms for modeling, simulation and high-throughput data analyses. The computational power of MIEP’s HPC clusters service not only MIEP, but also the modeling, simulation and bioinformatics analyses needs of immunology and infectious disease research community. The MIEP web portal provides services for the whole project, especially for delivering the results, tools, and education content to the research community and extended broader society.

MIEP intensively uses the cutting-edge technologies to make novel discoveries and identify potential therapeutic targets for infectious diseases. The services the MIEP bioinformatics team provides in this regard concentrate on the following three major areas:
